Stefanescu Diana

Writer / Director

It's absolutely wonderful to create stories where you have the opportunity of directing a plethora of diverse characters and remaining an observer, not having to pay the emotional price of their personal journeys.

Stories must be told or else they wither away and die, and when they die, we no longer remember who we are or why we are here. There is always room for a story to transport people to another place and time, giving them hope in an otherwise chaotic world. Look and listen, as you realize that we are not just made of random cells and atoms, we are made of infinite stories.

As a child, I used to direct little plays that I wrote. We staged them on the roof of the building where I grew up. My actors were chosen with great care. From the entire neighbourhood and surrounding area, I cast all the children, their parents, their grandparents and all their accompanying household pets: cats, dogs, fish, you name it. I remember I stole a little foal once because I needed it to create the perfect scene in my show.’

'Externally I am a filmmaker, internally I am a feelmaker.'
